Kieran Molloy was born on 26 November 1998 in Oughterard, County Galway — a tight-knit community on Ireland's wild Atlantic edge, with boxing deep in its bones. He walked into his local club at the age of five, following his two brothers Connor and Stephen through the gym doors, and never looked back. His coaches spotted the talent early, and what followed was one of the most decorated amateur careers Irish boxing has ever produced.

Over more than 221 amateur bouts, Molloy posted a record of 202 wins and 19 losses — collecting 11 national championships, three Irish Elite titles, a European Union bronze medal, and youth European and world honours along the way. A polished technician with fast hands and a relentless engine, he was already something of a national institution before he'd ever thrown a punch as a professional.
