The Silent Assassin.
Savannah Marshall was born on 19 May 1991 in Hartlepool — and she's been doing the impossible ever since. She stumbled into boxing at 12, drawn into a local gym by a boy showing off a trophy she decided she wanted one of her own. What followed was one of the most remarkable careers in the history of British boxing.
In 2012, Marshall made history at the AIBA Women's World Championships, becoming the first British female boxer to win gold. To get there, she did something nobody has managed before or since: she beat Claressa Shields — the fighter who would go on to become arguably the greatest women's boxer who has ever lived. That victory still stands today as one of the most stunning upsets in amateur boxing history. She is, and remains, the only person on earth to have beaten Claressa Shields.
She turned professional in 2017 — making her debut in Las Vegas — and has since scaled every peak the sport has to offer. Undisputed super-middleweight world champion. WBO middleweight world champion. A two-weight champion who has faced the best and beaten most of them. Quiet by nature, devastating in the ring — the Silent Assassin does not need to say much. The record speaks for itself.
“I've been chasing that fulfilment for 23 years of boxing. I'm not stopping until I get everything back — and then some.”
One of British boxing's all-time greats, Savannah Marshall has already achieved things no woman in this country's boxing history had ever managed before her. A trailblazer, a champion and a fighter who never, ever stops. At Ooosch, we're proud to stand alongside someone who has redefined what's possible.
